(28 Imaerasta 5114: Ta’Vaalor)
Here is my first song since I left home, for the Great Lady Iniania, who helped me my first day in the walled city with a new instrument, a fine weapon, and some very nice clothes.
The Lady of the Sands
By night and day, the forest smiles
Upon her every step and care.
Sun-kissed, night-veiled, she makes her way
With ne’er a trace that she was there.
Creatures flock to follow her,
Called by her natural grace.
But dark beware the ones that dare
To threaten harm or give her chase.
Sling your arrows, Lady,
Watch all your foes fall down.
Light brighten all the paths you take,
When soft you take your leave of town.
Lady of the sands,
Defender of the weak,
Quiet beauty in her name,
Patron ere I could speak!
A blessing leave I upon your tasks,
The moonbeam’s kiss for every dream.
These notes of gratitude in praise,
Your name in honor I will sing.
Iniania, Lady Great,
Watch all your foes fall down.
Shadows hide the paths you take,
When soft you take your leave of town.
Champion of young lasses,
Fletcher to those who seek,
Quiet beauty in her name,
Patron ere I could speak.
Great Lady of the sands we met,
Forever remain I in your debt.
